Taken on by on-the-up Castle Hill Theatre Group, Dungannon’s first amateur dramatic group in almost 40 years, self-titled ‘humble functionary’ Declan McGrath said the “funny and poignant” production “will suit all ages”.

The group’s third play since its inception, Declan said they decided on the script after “sitting there on Christmas morning watching Laurel and Hardy on Youtube with my son - and he loved it”.

“The appeal, for all ages, of Laurel and Hardy is still there,” he explained.

And as for the play, he said it will be something very special - “but mostly funny”.

Played out with two actors and a live pianist on stage, Declan said Brian Mills and Conor Begley are exceptional in multiple roles throughout the performance.

“It’s the story of men coming from the grave and telling their life story, interspersed with sketches and songs from their famous movies,” he added.

“The stories behind them are just as interesting as the stories on screen.”
