CLUB PREVIEW - Banbridge Rangers will host Ballymena side Ballynure OB in the third round of the Intermediate Cup this Saturday at Cheney Park with Kick Off at 1.30pm. Banbridge Rangers were the last team outside the Championship to be eliminated from the competition last season when they reached the Quarter Finals and have started this years campaign successfully with an away win over Raceview 5-2 followed by a second round 3-1 win over Dromara Village.

Banbridge Rangers Reserves will be looking to make it into the Quarter Finals of the Mid Ulster Shield on Saturday if they can use home advantage to see off Carnbane Premier League side Midway United. The Last 16 of the competition includes most clubs first team sides so there are no easy games at this stage and Saturdays match will be challenge that the new Reserve team manager Basil Brown will be relishing. Kick Off at the Tech is at 1.30pm.

The Swifts finished the calendar year top of the league and with a pending cup tie in the Reserve League Cup. The Cup Tie will take place this week when they host Hanover Reserves at Cheney Park on Friday Night with Kick Off sheduled for 8.00pm. Hanover Reserves are three divisions higher than Rangers third string but with the backing off the large home support anything is possible in cup games.

The Under 18s endured two months of cancellations to end 2011 with little football and will be hoping their away game at Lurgan Town will go ahead at the Lurgan Arena on Saturday morning with Kick Off at 10.00am. On the pitches adjacent at Gordon Playing Fields the Under 13s will take on Lurgan Town in a league fixture with kick off at 10.30am meaning supporters can watch some of both Rangers youth games.

The Under 11s went out of the NIBFA Cup on the Tuesday after Christmas when they lost 6-1 to Ridgeway Rovers at Cheney Park. A Luke Brown penalty brought Rangers back into the game midway through the second half but three late goals saw the Lisburn League side progress however the Under 11s spirits were raised last Saturday with a 10-1 friendly win over Lurgan Town.

The Under 10s, Under 9s and Under 8s have no league fixtures until the end of January but training resumes this Saturday at Havelock Park from 10.00-11.00am. If you have a child interested in playing organised small sided league games please bring them down to one of the Mini Soccer training sessions which are open to all children of Primary School Age and take place three times a week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
