Last chance warning for drugs man

Brian Niall Vint (44), Mountview Park, Banbridge, admitted two charges of possession of a class B drug when he appeared last Thursday at the local magistrates’ court.

For each offence he was fined £250 and sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for two years.

The court heard that on February 2 a search of a property uncovered small amounts of white powder.

Vint admitted ownership but claimed it was glucose for his diabetes. It was found to be a class B controlled drug.

A barrister representing the defendant said he realised that because this was his third conviction for drugs he was in serious trouble.

He urged the judge to leave something hanging over the head of the defendant.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, told Vint he had been in court on a number of occasions in relation to drugs offences.

He warned him he was going to prison if he was back in court again for another drugs offence.
