Kieran Doherty bows out after 30 years at Council

The privilege of closing the last ever meeting of Coleraine Borough Council was left to outgoing Chief Executive Kieran Doherty.

Mayor Duddy made a presentation at the meeting to mark Mr Doherty’s long service to the Coleraine Borough Council.

“Your dedication and commitment to Council has been outstanding,” said the Mayor.

Mr Doherty said that it had been a ‘privilege’ to do the job of Chief Executive for the past 13 months, and that the role had brought ‘a pleasurable career to a lovely end’.

Looking back in his time in Council, he recalled: “I don’t ever remember anything bad in over thirty years, there was more good than bad,” he said.

He went on: “Causeway Coast and Glens Council has a lot to live up to.

“Coleraine Borough Council has done its business up to tonight in an exemplary manner.”

He went on to pay tribute to the 300 odd staff and appealed to Causeway Coast and Glens councillors to keep their ‘focus’ on the staff.
