Kelly voices support for Cancer Research

THE work of Cancer Research UK in helping people to spot the symptoms of cancer early has been praised by a local MLA.

Upper Bann SDLP Assembly member Dolores Kelly attended a recent event to learn about the importance of spotting cancer early.

Dolores Kelly MLA joined Cancer Research UK staff, clinicians and patients to learn more about how people in Northern Ireland can spot the signs and symptoms of the disease at an early stage.

Dolores Kelly MLA said, “When cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, treatment is often simpler and more likely to be effective.

“I wholeheartedly support Cancer Research UK’s call to spot cancer as soon as possible. Early detection saves lives.”

Cancer Research UK’s Public Affairs Manager, Vicky Crichton, said, “We were delighted to have Dolores Kelly MLA helping us to spread the word. More people than ever are now surviving cancer, but we know that further cancer deaths could be prevented each year if more cancers were diagnosed at an early stage.

“If you notice any unusual or persistent changes in your body, visit your GP without delay. If it is something serious then finding it early could make all the difference.”
