Keen historian Mary enjoyed a bit of craic

A Katesbridge great grandmother who was in her 99th year passed away in Iveagh House on Monday, January 18, 2016.

Mrs. Mary McBride Murray of Ballybrick Road had been a widow since August 1984 when her husband the late Cuthbert Murray J.P. died.

Formerly known as Miss Mary Kennedy from Lacken House Ballyroney, she was also a keen conversationalist who enjoyed a good bit of craic.

She had been a keen historian and had a passion for woodwork. Mary was a member and regular attender at Ballyroney Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her two children, Mrs. Gillian Corbett (Kinallen) and her son Mr. Colin Murray (Ballybrick).

She is also survived by her son-in-law Tom, daughter-in-law Frances, grandchildren Alistair, David and Ruth and great grandchildren Daniel, Mollie, Micah and
Jacob. The funeral took place from her home at Ballybrick Road on Wednesday for a service in Ballyroney Presbyterian Church. Rev. K. Nelson paid a fitting tribute to
Mrs. Murray.

‘The 23rd Psalm’ and ‘The sands of time are sinking’ were sung. Mrs. Nan Mulhall presided at the organ and the committal took place afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.

Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Marie Curie Nurses NI and Iveagh House Nursing Home Residents Comforts Fund (Cheques made payable to William Bell and Co.). William Bell and Co. conducted the funeral.
