Katie has right royal reason for nursery return

PRIMARY School pupil Katie Kerr had a right royal reason for a recent return to Dromore Nursery.

Dromore Central P1 pupil Katie went along to her old school to see a letter of thanks written on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The letter, signed by Susan Hussey, Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen, acknowledged Dromore Nursery School’s congratulatory card on the occasion of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.

Sent on behalf of the whole school, the special card was coloured by none other than Katie, who, according to Dromore Nursery School principal Mrs. Sharon Beattie, was delighted to go along and receive a copy of the royal missive.

She said, “Katie returned to Dromore Nursery School to see the letter received by the school from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“Katie coloured in a special card which was send to Buckingham Palace to congratulate the Queen on her Diamond Jubilee in June; it sent good wishes from all the boys and girls of Dromore Nursery School.”

Mrs. Beattie explained that the whole school had worked on Jubilee cards.

“But we couldn’t send 80 cards,” she said, “so we picked one; Katie’s was the card we picked out and, with her permission of course, sent to the Queen.”

Of the letter from the Palace, she added, “We were thrilled to receive a letter and card back from Buckingham Palace, signed by Susan Hussey Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen.

“Katie shared the letter with some of the new children at the nursery.”

Mrs. Beattie said the card and letter would now be framed and proudly displayed at the school.
