Katesbridge to host WW1 talk

Katesbridge Community Association is holding a World War One talk in Shanaghan Orange Hall, Katesbridge, on Thursday June 23 at 8pm.

The talk will be given by Mr Tommy McClimmonds and will focus on men from the Katesbridge, Ballyroney and Closkelt areas.

A memorial to William J Massey, a member of Katesbridge Presbyterian Church and Shanaghan Victoria Goldsprings LOL 140, will also be unveiled.

Mr Massey’s prison-of-war records will be on display, as will Mr John Dickson’s war records. Both were members of the 16th Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles.

This will be followed by a buffet supper. Admission free.
