There has been much debate among fans of the HBO show, based on the books of George R R Martin, about whether or not Snow died at the end of the last series.

One of the biggest characters on the show, Snow was last seen in a pool of his own blood after being repeatedly stabbed by the men of the Night’s Watch under his command.

Harington told Entertainment Weekly in June that he had a sit-down with the producers of the show and they told him “Look, you’re gone, it’s done.”

“I’ve been told I’m dead,” he said.

“ I’m dead. I’m not coming back next season.

“So that’s all I can tell you, really.”

That seemed to be that, but various sightings of Harington in Belfast reignited the debate.

Now the Banbridge Leader can reveal the actor has been staying at the Belmont while filming for the new series of the hugely popular show has been taking place locally at The Linen Mill Film & Television Studios.

A local source confirmed Harington stayed at the Belmont Hotel for one night on July 28.

Many believe that the Red Priestess, Melisandre, who possesses magical powers, may bring him back from the dead.

Others have argued that Jon Snow may ‘warg’ (transfer his consciousness) into his pet direwolf, Ghost, a theory fuelled by the fact that Snow’s half-brother, Bran Stark, possesses the ability.
