THE NSPCC’s 14 and 20 mile HACK (Hike Against Cruelty to Kids) in the stunning Mourne mountains is nearly here.

The local children’s charity is calling on all walkers to sign up now for the September 15 event or risk missing out on a fantastic personal challenge.

The HACK will be a fabulous day out in the great outdoors and a valuable opportunity to support NSPCC’s services across Northern Ireland.

Clare Galbraith, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said that they are hopeful 2012 will prove even more successful than previous years. “We were delighted when last year’s Mournes event attracted an exceptional number of walkers, and raised over £40,000,” she said.

“That said, we’re not content to rest on our laurels - we want this year’s HACK to be even bigger and better. It truly is a great day out, with invaluable outcomes for some of the most vulnerable children in society. Please sign up now!”

There will be checkpoints and marshals along the route, with radio contact between all checkpoints and the control centre. The terrain is very varied and suitable footwear and clothing are recommended.

The HACK is open to people aged 18 years and over. The registration fee is £20 for the 20 mile challenge and £10 for 14 mile challenge.
