Jackie worked at Walkers and Smyths

It is with deep regret that we record the passing of Mr John Alexander Graham which occurred at Craigavon Area Hospital on Wednesday April 25.

Jackie, as he was affectionately known, was the son of the late Andrew and Martha Graham.

He resided at the family home of 5 Ashley Street, Banbridge. He had reached the age of 80 years a few weeks ago. Born and brought up in the town he started work in Walkers Factory in the Castlewellan Road and then to Smyth’s at Ballydown.

After this he went to work for different contractors in the building trade and then before his retirement worked in Banbridge District Council.

Latterly Jackie was tenderly cared for at Spelga Mews.

He was identified with the Sterritt Memorial L.O.L NO 257 and Mount Carmel R.P.B 131 and always enjoyed the demonstrations no matter where they were held. He also enjoyed his trips to Rossnowlagh in Donegal. He was a member of Seapatrick Parish Church. He is survived by brother Drew (Banbridge), sister Jean (England) and several nephews and nieces.

To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended. The funeral took place on Friday following a service in William Bell and Co. Funeral Home at which his minister the Rev. Mark Greenstreet officiated and gave an inspiring address.

He was assisted by Captain Geoffrey Walmsley. The interment took place afterwards in the New Cemetery. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Spelga Mews.

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
