A Public Information event will be held at Portstewart Town Hall on Tuesday, December 15 from 10am to 12 noon, about the upcoming Environmental Improvement Scheme along the Promenade.

Main contractor GEDA Construction will be hosting the event, to provide information on the scheme which was officially launched by Social Development Minister, Mervyn Storey MLA, and the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Michelle Knight-McQuillan last month.

The £1.5m scheme is jointly funded by the Department and Council.

While mobilisation has commenced, to avoid Christmas trading disruption along the promenade the main regeneration work will commence on the 7th January 2016. Further details on the project programme will be available at the event.

Works will involve upgrading surfaces and paving, refurbished steps from the promenade area, interpretive and directional signage, new pedestrian guard rails, lighting and street furniture.

The Environmental Improvement Scheme will deliver excellent Urban Design and will encourage economic, physical and social regeneration. The scheme seeks to enhance the main pedestrian walkway along the sea front by improving the physical integration and by dramatically improving the overall ambience and attraction of Portstewart.
