The fund, which is managed by the Arts Council, gives grants of between £500 and £5000 for the provision of musical instruments to formally constituted bands.

“The information evening will be held in Brownlow House on Thursday August 4 at 8pm in conjunction with the Ulster Scots Community Network,” said Mrs Lockhart. “I have been inundated with enquiries regarding the funding and this will assist people who believe they are eligible to apply with assistance in that regard.

“I am delighted that it was the DUP Minister who reinstated this fund as I know it was of great use to the bands previously to assist with the purchase of musical instruments. I want to thank Paul Givan for doing this so quickly on his taking up office.

“If you plan to attend this event it would be most helpful if you could register with my office on 02838310088 or email [email protected].”

MLA Sydney Anderson has also welcomed the reintroduction of the scheme. “It is very encouraging that the Minister recognises the positives that this scheme encompasses and I welcome the fact that he remains committed to supporting it as we move forward,” he said. “The reinstatement of this funding will provide further help to allow the sector to develop in the months ahead.”
