Hunter thanks voters

UUP councillor Sandra Hunter - who made a little bit of political history by becoming the first female to be elected to the new Causeway Coast and Glens Council - has thanked the electorate who voted for her.

In a statement to the Times, Cllr Hunter stated, “I am honoured and delighted to be elected to the new Causeway Coast and Glens Council and to be the first lady on as well was a nice bonus!

“I see this as a new start, which we move forward to meet the great challenges that as a new area we face. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has put their trust in me and came out and voted for me.

“I would like to thank my entire merry band of helpers who helped with my postal labelling, putting up and taking down posters and those who consistently assisted me with my door to door calls, all your hard work in helping me has paid off.

“I have been truly touched by all the kind words from those people who have contacted me or private messaged me to congratulate me, I am overwhelmed that so many value the work that I do.

“I promise to continue to work hard for you the local people. Thank you,” she concluded.
