“I was delighted to host the First Minister Peter Robinson MLA to sign off on the World Record that was broken at the event with 100 horses ploughing simultaneously for one minute.

“There was a hive of activity at the match this year and I must commend the organisers for their hugely successful efforts. The fashion show, craft tents and food tent certainly was a big draw.

“It was a pleasure also to meet and speak with Mrs Richardson, the wife of the late Hugh Richardson a good friend of mine. It was a bitter, sweet day with the passing of Hugh very much to the fore of our minds.

“I am already looking forward to next year’s show and know that plans are already in place.

”Undoubtedly the First Minister’s presence at the event demonstrated clearly the support there is for this unique ploughing event here in Upper Bann.”

MLA Mrs Dobson, who attended along with MEP Jim Nicholson, Transport Minister Danny Kennedy and friends, praised the organisers, competitors and exhibitors who took part in Saturday’s match.

She said, “Mullahead is one of the highlights in the farming calendar and one I never miss. It was amazing to see so many people supporting our local farmers and companies, it really is a superb day out for all the family.

“I send my congratulations to the organisers for a job well done and also to the Richardson family for their continued generosity,” Mrs Dobson added.
