His family can be truly proud

IAN Wilson, chairman of Banbridge DUP, also paid tribute to Stephen McKee following his death in Afghanistan last week.

“I would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to the McKee family on behalf of myself and all the branch members,” he said.

“His family can be truly proud of Stephen, a true hero, he served his Queen and country with pride and honour.

“This is something all of the community in Banbridge should recognise and I call for the honour of the freedom of Banbridge and District to be given to the Royal Irish Regiment.

“With close family members who served in the Regiment, this is something that is close to my heart and would surely be a fitting tribute to all the members over the years who paid the ultimate sacrifice.”
