Help make world's biggest sock at knitters' market

Anyone who fancies helping to create the world's biggest sock is invited to go along to a Christmas Market today Thursday, November 24, and get sewing.

The market has been organised by Knitted knockers of NI Guild and will be held at Portadown Markets in William Street from 2-10pm.

Among the attractions will be Pamela Emerson from NI Big Sock who is attempting a Guinness World record for the largest sock (Italy holds the record at the minute), with local groups having already contributed patchwork.

Other attractions will include afternoon tea, music from Rodney Cordner, Harp Fusion, Brownie Choir and Davy Evans as well as craft and market stalls.

Children can write a letter to Santa and meet characters from Frozen as well as Mrs Claus.

The local guild knits prostheses, which can be worn in both mastectomy bras and ordinary bras, for breast cancer survivors and also delivers them to Craigavon, Antrim, Belfast and Coleraine breast clinics.

Joanne Harris, who formed the local branch, has thanked knitters, crocheters and volunteers.
