Hearty Walkers follow the scenic route in Carrickfergus

Mid and East Antrim Council's series of Hearty Walks continued with participants passing through some of the Carrick's fantastic green spaces on St Valentine's Day.

The route included Shaftesbury Park, Carrickfergus Mill Ponds, Marine Gardens and along Marine Highway past the medieval castle.

The three-event series tied in with Hearty Lives Carrickfergus, which is a £230,000 project to reduce the high levels of cardiovascular disease in mothers and young children and is undertaken in partnership with MEA Council, the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and the Public Health Agency.
