Greek student had no helmet

A GREEK man studying in Coleraine has been handed a number of fines.

Georgios Paraskakis (24), of Old Mill Grange in Portstewart, appeared before North Antrim Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday on a number of driving charges.

Court heard that on April 8, police on patrol in the Millburn area spotted Paraskakis on a scooter with no head gear. Police stopped him and he replied: “I won’t do it again, I didn’t know the rules.”

Checks also revealed that he did not have insurance or an MOT certificate for the motorcycle.

District Judge, Richard Wilson, warned Paraskakis about his actions, telling him that he should have got head gear for the motorcycle before buying it.

The Biotechnology Masters student replied: “ I’m sorry, I’m guilty.”

Paraskakis was fined 200 and given six penalty points for no insurance, 50 for driving with no head gear and a further 50 fine for driving without an MOT certificate.
