Good result for cricket club as vandal coughs up for repairs

Last week the Lurgan Mail reported how sometime over the weekend of February 17 - 19 the Roy Harrison Pavilion at Waringstown Cricket Club’s home ground, The Lawn, was vandalised. (Read story here)

The hands were pulled off the pavilion clock and two letters, an I and an S, were ripped off the sign on the front of the building.

Last week’s story carried comments from club vice-chairman Alan Harrison stating that it could cost £200 to repair the damaged clock.

And it seems someone took note of Mr Harrison’s comments, as local police have since confirmed that the missing letters were handed in to a local church along with £200 to fix the damage.

A post on the PSNI Craigavon Facebook page said: “A very expensive lesson to learn, but learnt nonetheless!

“The club consider the matter now resolved, so we’re delighted to be able to get them an outcome they’re happy with.”
