Give My Head Peace comes to the Iveagh

THE award-winning comedy show Give My Head Peace will roll into Banbridge next week for a "Live and Dangerous" evening's entertainment.

Following last year’s sell-out shows across Northern Ireland, the brand new stage show, “Give My Head Peace…Live and Dangerous!” will appear at the Iveagh Movie Studios, Banbridge, for one night only on Tuesday March 30.

The show features all of the favourite and much-loved characters from Give My Head Peace and Dry Your Eyes, including those who ‘passed away’ in the last episode of the hit BBC Northern Ireland television series…and a few surprises too!

Uncle Andy, Cal, Da, the motorcycle-mad McDowells and many more come together for a night of guaranteed laughs and comic anarchy.

Damon Quinn (Cal), Tim McGarry (Da) and Michael McDowell (Billy), the writers behind the two television programmes, have once again joined forces to bring the hilarious characters from the programmes to life on stage.

They are joined by the comic talents of Olivia Nash (Ma), Marty Reid (Uncle Andy) and, for the first time on stage with the gang, one of Northern Ireland’s best-known broadcasters George Jones.

George plays Melvin (Big Mervyn’s smarter brother) and Emma Little plays the mysterious character Lily.

Da has decided that his day has finally come and it’s time to oust Gerry. So he decides to stand against his mentor but Gerry doesn’t take this lying down. Meanwhile Ma has been inspired by recent scandals and has taken a shine to the young lad who runs the new cafe ‘The Divis Lookout’. The trouble is, does the young man in question have real feelings for Ma or is he just after her (non-existent) money? And if Da finds out, will he phone a divorce lawyer or crack open the champagne?

Meanwhile, Uncle Andy is hanging out with Big Mervyn’s smarter brother Melvin who is helping with his election campaign which goes well until Andy meets some voters. His life is then thrown into chaos when his own Uncle Andy dies and a mysterious and beautiful young woman called Lily appears on the scene.
