Getting set for Christmas switch-on

The annual Christmas Lights switch-on in Banbridge takes place on Friday, November 29

With the Season to be jolly almost upon us as the countdown to Christmas begins, what better way to do it than in the company of Santa Claus at the annual switch-on in the town centre from 6.30pm.

Join Father Christmas and a host of other festive entertainers for a packed Christmas present of free family fun as Banbridge District Council Chairman, Councillor Olive Mercer, flicks the switch to light up the Christmas Tree and illuminate the town.

The Cool FM Roadshow, featuring local DJ Gareth Stewart, will be filling the air with festive tunes and helping to spread the seasonal cheer by offering families the chance to win a host of spectacular spot prizes on the night.

The Cut will be transformed into a magical outdoor cinema showing heartwarming Christmas cinema classics, so don’t forget to wrap up warm to keep Jack Frost from nipping at your nose.

At 7pm local clergy will lead the much loved traditional Carol Service at the Christmas Tree, which will be followed by the moment every girl and boy is waiting for, the arrival of Father Christmas.

With a hearty Ho! Ho! Ho! he will check his list of who has been naughty or nice and meet local children to find out what is on their Santa list.

While you’re in town don’t forget to look out for Santa’s Reindeers’ carrots hiding in local shop windows as part of Banbridge Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Win an iPad’ competition which will run each Friday in December. Check participating shops for details.
