The compassionate ‘Friends of the Cancer Centre’, based at Belfast City Hospital, is organising a ‘Newry Canal Cycle’ along the towpath next Saturday, September 24 – starting in Portadown – and exponents of the two wheels are asked to take part.

It’s the group’s first Newry Canal Cycle and is open to cyclists of all abilities over the age of 14. So, whether you are a novice or experienced cyclist, you will enjoy making your way along the towpath through scenic countryside, while helping to raise vital funds for local cancer patients and their families.

You can choose from two routes -

Route A: 38-mile cycle starting at Portadown along the towpath to Newry then returning to Portadown.

Route B: 21-mile cycle starting at Portadown, along the towpath to Poyntzpass and returning to Portadown.

You will receive a complementary cup of tea and scone along the way to keep your energy levels up and help get you across the finish line!

Registration for the event is £5 per person and each participant is asked to raise a minimum suggested sponsorship of £50.

For more information and a fund-raising pack, log onto www.friendsofthecancercentre.co or phone Belfast 02890 9069 9393.
