He was born March 5 1933 in Darkley, Keady, and grew up in Craigmore, Bessbrook.

His great love was his family. He was married to wife Joanne for 40 years but she sadly passed away in June 2013. He had four daughters, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and all adored him.

He had one brother Davy who he looked up to, but he passed away in May 1989.

Thomas began his career as an apprentice upholsterer but became an engineer for Calor aged 25, where he worked until his retirement.

He was passionate about music and played the bagpipes, accordion, violin, piano and Hawaiian guitar and was accredited with being one of the first tutors at the Northern Ireland Piping and Drumming School. It’s estimated he probably taught approximately 400 pupils.

In his younger years he had a dance band and also got his pilot’s licence.

A member of Garvaghy Parish Church, he was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandad and great grandad - a gentleman.

He is survived by daughter Mrs Stephanie Grant and sisters Mrs Lucy Robinson, Mrs Amanda Robinson-Hunter and Mrs Tammy Harty.

Hymns at the funeral were The Day Thou Gavest Lord is Ended and Thine Be the Glory. Captain Colin Taylor led the service. Donations in lieu of flowers if desired many be sent to John Gamble, 7 Meeting Street, Dromore, BT25 1AQ for Barnardo’s Children’s Charities.
