Futureheads to headline Take It To The Bridge

SUNDERLAND indie band The Futureheads will headline the inaugral Take It To The Bridge festival at Corbet Lough in July.

Having graced the stages of famous festivals such as Glastonbury, Oxegen and the Leeds and Reading Festivals along with securing support slots in the past to bands like the Foo Fighters and Snow Patrol music fans locally are in for a real treat when they take to the stage on July 3.

“We are over the moon to get them,” said Aaron McCrumlish, one of the festival’s organisers. “They are going to be a big draw.

“Everything is going great in terms of preparation for the event, we’ve now got our stage sorted out and on the day we will have rodeo bullriding and inflatables which at this moment in time are going to be free. We’re trying to make it a cheap day out for everyone.”

With three albums under their belts, The Futureheads have just released their fourth - The Chaos – an impressive collaboration of songs described as ‘a fascinating product from a band that’s been doing it for as long as this lot’. The album includes successful hit single ‘Heartbeat’ which has regular airplay on all major radio stations including Radio One.

Radio One DJ Huw Stevens recently hosted the band in the famous Live Lounge where they performed a stunning acoustic version of ‘Heartbeat’ and a knock out cover of Kelis’ hit single ‘Acapella’. Kelis loved it and so did the loyal radio one listeners who were texting into the show in their thousands to give praise.

The Futureheads will be superseded by an impressive collection of up-and-coming signed talent to complete the Take it to the Bridge line-up. The bill includes: And So I Watch You From Afar, The Complete Stone Roses, Spectrum 7, Panama Kings, Max Raptor, A Plastic Rose and Strait Laces.

Take it to the Bridge will also be holding a ‘Battle to the Bridge’ for unsigned acts, voting will take place on the website with further details of the winning prize to be announced soon.

Aaron added, “We’ve also got competitions on our website and on Facebook to win one of five sets of Bowers & Wilkins speakers and to win an an iPod. The first 1,000 tickets purchased will be entered into the draw to win the prizes.”
