Fundraising quiz planned

A Dromore youth is holding a quiz in Boyle’s Bar and Restaurant at 7.30pm on Friday (November 21) to raise funds for teachers trying to educate impoverished children in Uganda.

Christopher White went to Uganda in April with Dromore High School and the Fields of Life of Life charity.

“Our school has connections with two schools out there so we went out to offer support to them,” he said. “The visit really touched me, especially when we visited a third school in Kampala on the way home.

“It was basically based in a slum and the teachers were trying their best to give some education to the children who live there.There is so much work to be done.

“We hope to be able to support the teachers in getting professional teaching qualifications. At the moment they just have A-level type qualifications.

“Every £150 that we raise will pay a teacher’s salary for one month.”

Christopher is raising the money in conjunction with a new charity, ‘Hopeful Hearts’, run by Diane Lockhart.

The entry fee is £3 and a free buffet will be provided. Quiz teams will be limited to five members each.
