Fundraiser hits the right note

Banbridge Orange Hall will be a hive of activity on Saturday when local couple Paul and Ruth Clydesdale host a special fundraising Coffee Morning in aid of the N.I. Military Wives Choir.

The Northern Ireland Military Wives Choir was formed in 2012 to bring ladies from within the military communities closer together through music and singing. Since then, the choir has grown steadily. Over the past four years they have sung at some very high profile events and in some of our finest buildings. But whilst they love the big occasions, for the girls in the choir, some of their most enjoyable performances have been at the Somme Nursing Home where they recently sang wartime tunes with the residents and their families. Performing is only part of what the choir is about. It is also about the friendships and companionship, coming together to share the common understanding of what it is like to be a military wife, the highs, the lows, the frustrations and, at times, the loneliness. They are proud to be Military Wives, and this support is echoed in their theme song ‘Stronger Together’.

If you are free on Saturday between 10am and 12.30pm why not go along and enjoy some tea or coffee and lovely food? The Choir will also be singing at 10.30am and 12 noon. Entry to the event is free, but all donations will be greatly appreciated.
