Funding news on offer to Dromore groups

Dromore businesses and community groups are being urged to attend an upcoming workshop offering information on new funding opportunities.

The event next month will be the latest in MEP Diane Dodds’ most recent series of regional funding workshops.

The DUP woman said: “I am glad to say that the next few years will see an increase in the number of EU, national and local funds to which both community groups and businesses across our Province can apply.

“With a budget of €269million, the new PEACE Programme in Northern Ireland holds the potential to boost grassroots communities and give people who have been left behind in recent years a true and tangible stake in our society.

“It will have a positive focus on children, young people and creating shared spaces and services.

“Meanwhile, the Rural Development Programme, with a budget of £623 million, possesses opportunities to enhance and grow rural communities, as well as support their businesses at a time of great challenge in these areas.

“Organisations will have different ideas of how they can access these and other funds.

“Some will have their eyes on much-needed capital support, others on the money that can help them to develop services that they already provide.

“What matters the most is that they have all the information and help needed to make a good application, which is what my latest series of workshops is all about.

“I want to raise awareness of the various programmes, to provide people with the help and support that they need, and to ensure that all groups, irrespective of size, have an equal chance to pursue these opportunities”.

DUP colleague and Lagan Valley MLA Brenda Hale added, “Both Diane and I would encourage community groups and businesses in the wider Dromore and Lisburn areas to come along to this funding workshop.

“Statutory agencies will be present at the meeting to answer any queries or concerns.”

The event will be held in Dromore Town Hall on Thursday, March 10 at 7:30pm.
