Funding boost for three Cookstown charities

Presentations were made to Cookstown Citizen’s Advice Bureau, St Vincent de Paul, and The Hub BT80 at the most recent Development Committee meeting held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, May 21.

Chair of Cookstown District Council’s Development Committee, Councillor Deirdre Mayo made a donation of £100 to each of the charities from the Committee Chair’s allowance to recognise the important work the three groups do in the District for its resident’s health, financial and social well-being.

“I am delighted to support these charities by providing this donation, and more importantly, highlighting the vital services they provide to make the lives of our residents better,” said Cllr Mayo.

“Whether that is by tackling poverty in all its forms through the provision of practical assistance to those in need by St Vincent de Paul; by helping people resolve their legal, money and other problems through the free, independent and confidential advice offered by Cookstown Citizen’s Advice Bureau; or by encouraging social inclusion and well-being for our community through the use of the many drama, music, arts and crafts activities that the Hub BT80 provides, each organisation plays a key role in making Cookstown a better place to live, work and visit.”
