Foyle and Bann Shipping Association meeting

CAPTAIN Erin Lake will be speaking at the Foyle and Bann Shipping Association meeting on Friday October 19.

His talk entitled ‘The RMS Princess Victoria Disaster and Legacy from a Master Mariners Perspective’ is sure to be of great interest.

The RMS Victoria foundered on January 31 1953 in a violent storm that history records as the worst storm to hit the UK in the 20th century.

Captain Lake, now retired, served with British Rail Sealink on the Larne-Stranraer route for seven years as Chief Officer.

This should be an interesting talk and everyone is welcome to come along. The venue for the meeting will be Macosquin Parish Church at 8pm on Friday, October 19.

The Foyle and Bann Association was formed in 1978 and meets monthly from September to June at venues in Macosquin and Londonderry. The programme for this session is now available. New members will be made very welcome. For further information contact Stanley Bate on 703 44098 or Trevor Adams on 703 56509.
