Mother-of-two Mrs Kathleen Mehaffey passed away peacefully in Craigavon Area Hospital recently.
Kathleen, a former meals supervisor at Dromore High School, was married to the late Norman Mehaffey and lived at Weavers Court, Banbridge.
She lived most of her married life at Ballymoney Road. She moved 19 years ago to her latter address.
She was described by many who knew her as a woman who was both cheery and caring.
After she left school, she did a catering course and worked in various canteens in Belfast before she worked at Dromore High School where she later retired as a school meals supervisor.
Kathleen was keen on sewing and knitting, especially for under-privileged children.
She was predeceased by her husband Norman in 2009.
Kathleen enjoyed attending lunch clubs in Scarva Street, Bannside and Holy Trinity Churches.
She was an active member of the Women’s Institute and Mothers’ Union .
She was also a member of Holy Trinity Parish Church.
She is survived by her son Niall, of Portballintrae, daughter Rosemary and her son-in-law Leslie, grandchildren Peter and Simon.
The funeral took place in Holy Trinity Parish Church on Saturday at which the Ven Roderic West spoke of Kathleen’s life.
He told of how the former Miss Kathleen Agnew was brought up in Tullyhenan, the daughter of James and May Agnew.
The hymns ‘The day thou gavest’ and ‘What a friend we have in Jesus’ were sung at the funeral.
Mr Roly Anketel presided at the organ.
The committal took place afterwards in the New Cemetery. Family flowers were placed on the grave.
