A police officer said he was familiar with the evidence in the case and believed he could connect the accused with the charge.

A barrister representing Hathaway said the charge would be contested.

Deputy District Judge Neil Rafferty released the defendant on continuing police bail.

The case was adjourned until September 14 so that a date could be fixed for a contested hearing.
