Father Christmas set to light up Banbridge

SANTA Claus is coming to Banbridge Town Centre on Friday 30 November as the highlight of the annual Christmas lights switch on event.

As well as a special visit from the jolly man in red and his happy helpers, who will be handing out treats to all the good children of the district, the evening will be a Christmas cracker bursting with festive fun for all the family starting at 6.30pm.

Come along and join the singing elf Mistle-Toes Jingle Berry and her festive friends who will get everybody in the Christmas spirit with a collection of seasonal songs and tinsel tinged tunes.

The Cut will be transformed into an innovative outdoor cinema showing Raymond Briggs’ firm family favorites The Snowman and Father Christmas, guaranteed to warm your heart on a frosty evening.

As well as having you jiving with your jingle bells, the Cool FM roadshow will be hosting a range of competitions with fabulous prizes from local stores including J.A. Lyttles, Telepizza, Gordon’s Chemist, Angelic Bridal, Houstons, Total Hockey and Iveagh Movie Studios.

Keep a look out for Rudi the Reindeer in local shop windows as Banbridge Chamber of Commerce will also be holding their ‘Christmas for Free’ completion during the holiday season.

The evening will also feature the much loved traditional carol service led by the Local Clergy Fellowship and Soloist Rosemary Kelly before Council Chairman Junior McCrum leads the countdown to the big moment of lighting up the town centre.

The switch on of the Christmas lights also heralds the beginning of late night shopping in the town until 9pm on the following dates: Friday 30 November, Friday 7 December, Friday 14 December, Wednesday 19 December, Thursday 20 December, Friday 21 December

Late nights shoppers will have added Christmas cheer as their present hunting will be accompanied by the seasonal sounds of Warrenpoint Silver Band on Friday 7 December, Banbridge Silver Band on Friday 14 December and Seapatrick Silver Band on Friday 21 December.
