Family of late Adrian Allen present almost £4k to city cancer ward

THE family of cancer victim, the late Adrian Allen from Claudy, have presented a cheque of almost £4k to nursing staff at a cancer unit in Altnagelvin.

Linda Allen, Emma Allen and Janet Smyth presented a donation of £3810.00 to Staff Nurse, Mairead Gallagher and Acute Support Nurse, Robert Arthur;at the Sperrin Unit in the hospital.

The family, who are from Claudy wished to thank everyone who helped raise the funds through donations in lieu of flowers, sponsorship and a local charity night held for the Ward 43 Sperrin Unit in memory of their loving husband and father, Adrian.

The Sperrin Suite, located in the South Wing at Altnagelvin is a purpose-built chemotherapy unit with 21 treatment chairs, an inpatient ward, Ward 43 with 14 beds, an outpatient facility with nine consulting rooms and facilities for rehabilitation specialist palliative care and support services.

The facilities in Ward 43 are of the highest standard, with all single rooms with ensuite facilities. Four of the rooms are specialist in that they have positive air pressure to offer protection for patients with a severely compromised immune system.
