An end to roaming charges?

A vote which would see the scrapping of all mobile roaming charges within the European Union, has been welcomed by Sinn Féin Councillor Brendan Curran.

The vote by all MEP’s on April 3, has most significant implications for those living in Northern Ireland’s boarder area where customers have at times been hit with unexpected international roaming charges.

Councillor Curran said: “Many people here will know all too well the ridiculous nature of roaming charges between the north and south having a negative impact on business and unnecessary costs on the average phone user. Sinn Féin has continuously called for an end to roaming charges. I hope the legislation will be passed when it comes to the plenary session.”
