Ellie gets locks cut for Little Princess Trust

Ellie, who is a pupil at Dromara Primary and who is just ten years old knew Cariss, who sadly passed away last December at the age of seven, after a battle with a rare form of cancer, neuroblastoma - a cancer that annually affects some 100 children in the UK.

Ellie had wanted to get her hair cut for a while to donate it to the Little Princess Trust. Though she may have lost her hair but she raised £400 in the process.

The Little Princess Trust is a children’s cancer charity that supples real hair wigs to children suffering with cancer, for the duration of their treatment.

It was Beth Donaldson who cut her hair.

Her mum Louise explains, “It was something Ellie wanted to do for over a year.

“Ellie who suffers from ADHD and has her own wee challenges in life but she was selfless in what she wanted to do. I am so super proud as are all her family and friends.

“Thank you to everyone who donated also also to Beth Donaldson and Dromara Village Football Club for allowing us to use the premises for this event. Which was incidentally on her Baby Brother Bobby’s 1st Birthday.”

The Little Princess Trust is a children’s cancer charity that supples real hair wigs to children suffering with cancer, for the duration of their treatment.

They assist children with other conditions which also result in hair loss, the most common being alopecia.

Despite being set up to help children with cancer, the Trust is able to supply children that do not have a cancer diagnosis with a single wig.

They hope that this gesture will help the child and family whilst they decide on their long-term plans for dealing with this condition.

As a result of treatment for cancer, most children will suffer hair loss as a side effect. Some boys and girls cope remarkably well but for others this can be very upsetting. The charity provides real hair wigs free of charge to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Earlier this year Harry Styles from One Direction donated some of his hair and singer Jessie J also shaved her hair and donatd to the LIttle Princess Trust.
