Elderly disabled couple fall prey to heartless thieves

Detectives in Larne are appealing for information following a distraction-type burglary in the Torr Gardens area on Thursday, May 10.

At around 10.30am, it was reported that three males called a house in the area. The occupants of the house, an elderly couple who are disabled, were told by the males – believed to aged between 14-18 – that their football had been kicked into the back garden and could they retrieve it.

Two of the males went to the back garden with the female victim while the third male went upstairs to search the bedrooms. When the males left the house the victims discovered that two black leather purses and a handbag were missing.

The offenders were witnessed walking down Torr Gardens from Shanlea Drive then running back onto Shanlea Drive a short time later. The first suspect is described as approximately six foot tall, medium build, black hair, wearing a red/dark orange zip-up top. The second male was described as five foot, nine inches tall, medium build while the third male is described at around five foot, five inches and wearing a grey top with a sky-blue t-shirt underneath.
