DUP launches survey on bin collections

The DUP carried out a survey of hundreds of homes across the Banbridge District Council to gauge an opinion of the highly documented bin collection policy.

The survey, carried out on Saturday, January 10, was answered by home owners in Gilford, Scarva, and Banbridge town.

Upper Bann MP David Simpson confirmed that the party position on the new bin collection would be heavily influenced by the results of the survey and called on home owners to complete the online survey if they have not had the opportunity to answer the survey.

Mr Simpson commented: “It was evident to me that home owners, at the cold face of this policy, have not had their opinions listened to.

“Our party felt that the best way to understand the concerns was by producing a brief survey on the controversial issue. Whilst I want to see a cleaner environment with minimal wastage it is paramount that home owners are provided with the most effective structures to allow for proper and regular disposal of their waste.”

He continued: “With on-going financial difficulties being faced across our province, those living within the Banbridge Council Area should not feel the collection of their black bin is another burden on their lives.

“Our party will analyse the findings of the survey and through this we will take a firm and united stance on what has been a highly publicised and debated topic.

“I want to encourage home owners who have not  been able to fill in the survey to go online and give us their  full, honest and detailed opinion.”
