DUP candidates selected

Sitting Dromore Councillors Paul Rankin and Hazel Gamble have been selected as DUP candidates in the May 22 local government elections.

The two will stand, along with Craigavon (Donacloney) Councillor Mark Baxtor in the Lagan River District Electoral Area established under the new Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon supercouncil.

A “delighted” Mr Rankin said: “I have had the privilege of representing the Dromore DEA since first being elected in May 2000. The new Lagan River DEA will take in such areas as Donacloney, Waringstown, Dromore, Gransha and Quilly.

“If successfully re-elected, I will continue to work with my colleagues on local issues and seek to do my best to assist those who may approach me regarding constituency matters.

I would thank all those who have supported and stood by me over the past 14 years and I would humbly ask again for their support in the weeks that lie ahead and for the support of the local electorate on polling day.”
