Drunk man tried to head-butt a wall

Kamil Stepien, Enniskeen, Craigavon, admitted simple drunk and disorderly behaviour on June 18 this year. For each offence he was fined £125.

The court heard that police spoke to the defendant in Duke Street, Portadown, and he told them to ‘f—k off’.

Stepien was extremely intoxicated and had to be supported by police to prevent him from falling.

Despite being warned about his behaviour he continued to be disorderly and shout at members of the public.

After stumbling down the street he lay on the ground before standing up and beginning to head-butt a wall. Police took him home.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said that Stepien has now returned to his mother’s address in Aldervale.

He added that while the defendant is not ‘completely dry’ he is making efforts and is in a much better place than a few months ago. Mr Downey said his client remembered very little about this incident.

District Judge, Mr Peter King, said the offences arose from the defendant’s ‘gross state of intoxication’.
