The court heard that police searched the property at Lakeview Court and the defendant’s mother was present at the time.

Four small pieces of cannabis resin were found and a bag of herbal cannabis was discovered behind the batteries of a remote control. Some was also found in the mother’s bedroom.

Carlisle said it was for his own personal use and ‘everything in the house is mine’.

He told police he had drugs all around the house and sometimes forgot where they were. He had bought them for £60 and thought it was a good deal.

Carlisle admitted he regularly took drugs and smoked one piece of cannabis resin per day. A barrister representing Carlisle said his client was no stranger to the courts.

He added that his last drugs offence was seven years ago although in 2012 he had spent time in custody for a robbery matter.
