The defedant, whose address was given as Roes Green, Lawrencetown, was fined £150 last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court for obstructing an authorised examiner on March 1 this year.

He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

As well McLoughlin was fined £100 by the court for failing to notify the DVA of a change of keeper of a vehicle between January 4 and March 21 this year.

The court heard that on March 5 this year police stopped a vehicle with tinted windows at Newry Street in Banbridge.

They directed the defendant to follow them into the Lidl car park but he drove off in another direction and did not return.

They went to his home address and he said he had bought the car four weeks previously and had not notified DVA of change of ownership.

A solicitor representing the defendant said that his client had been stopped in the middle of the town.

He added that police spoke to him through the window of the car and asked him to go to a nearby car park.

He turned off and instead of going back he decided to go on.

The solicitor said the vehicle had now been sold on and his client had a lesson ‘well learned’.
