Thirty-two-year-old Ashley Marie Daly, Mayfield Square, Belfast, was also fined £200 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that on December 6 last year around 12.30pm she was detected travelling at 91mph in a 60mph zone on the A1 dual carriageway at Dromore.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said it was a very alarming speed and his first concern in the case was it may involve disqualification.

Daly, who pleaded guilty herself in court, said she didn’t have any excuse.

She explained that she had been driving from Dublin to Belfast and lost focus for a moment. The defendant added that she could only apologise. She had been driving for ten years with no previous convictions.

Judge Copeland said he would not disqualify her on this occasion and warned her not to let it happen again.
