Dromore to host all new ‘Glee Club’

DROMORE is to play host to a new Glee Club-style initiative for 12 to 18-year-olds.

Organised by the Neighbourhood Policing Team, in conjunction with Banbridge Policing and Community Safety Partnership, the sessions are set to get underway this coming Friday, July 20.

The seven-week scheme at Dromore’s Fresh Oil Music Centre and Recording Studio offers young people the chance to develop their musical talent, improve performance skills and compete in a grand ‘X factor’ final.Free transport will be provided from Banbridge and Rathfriland.

“Are you a budding musician or performer,” ask organisers, “or have you an interest in learning backstage skills?

“Would you like the chance to compete in a Battle of the Bands and maybe win one of many great prizes, including a recording studio contract? Or are you a budding Gok Wan, into creative design, who would like to make costumes or make- up?”

For those who answer ‘yes’, the upcoming free sessions will run on Friday nights from 7 – 10pm at Fresh Oil, Hillsborough Road, Dromore.

Support will be given in developing musical skills, music mixing and Djing, backstage, video and camera skills, costumes and make up.

“Experience is great but not essential,” a spokesperson said. For further information and to register your attendance, contact Alison Beattie at Banbridge PCSP on 028 4062 0246 or Alison.beattie@banbridge.gov.uk.
