Some 80 Dromore Nursery pupils took part.

Working together, and led by principals Sharon Beattie (Dromore) and Fiona McDonald, staff at both schools will be developing a programme to promote Early Years Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Said Mrs Beattie: “This work will involve all members of the school community, including parents, governors, the local community, health professionals and staff.

“Of course the most important people to benefit from it will be the children. We have an ambitious vision and have been awarded a substantial grant over three years, which we will use to maximum effect for children and their families.”

The project launch at Drumnamoe included African drumming, soccer skills, physical games, friendship art and musical movement courtesy of Dromore’s Patricia Hamilton School of Music and Performing Arts.

The children also shared a healthy snack along with parents and staff.

Mrs Beattie added: “There are extensive plans in place for this work which we hope to be able to disseminate across the pre-school sector. Everyone had a fabulous day on Tuesday a brilliant start to the project.”
