Danny Kennedy said: “This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway.

Dromara residents and visitors to the area will quickly benefit from the investment.”

While the Department’s resource budget for activities such as routine maintenance is severely reduced, funding for this scheme is from the capital budget for major projects and new road schemes, less affected by current pressures. Traffic management will be in place including a road closure.

Signposted diversions will be in operation.

TransportNI said it had planned the improvements and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience to the public, but drivers should expect delays and were advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.

Scheme dates are subject to favourable weather.
