Dromara firm on the airwaves

Radio Ulster’s ‘The Foodie.’ - began on Sunday, May 10 at 12.30pm.

Will and Allison Abernethy, who own and operate the Dromara business -supplying their product to chefs like Heston Blumenthal and Marcus Wareing - were interviewed by keen cook and self-professed enthusiast eater Kim Lenaghan.

Will and Allison’s butter is hand-churned and made with cream from grass-fed herds that graze not far from their farm.

The Abernethys’ set up the business just a few years ago , tunring a hobby into an enterprise producing one tonne of butter a month.

Their butter has been hailed for its “spectacular” flavour and creaminess and the couple now sells to Michelin-starred restaurants around Britain, barely able to churn the butter fast enough to meet demand.

‘The Foodie’. meanwhile, sees Kim Lenaghan travel the length and breadth of Northern Ireland, meeting people with a passion for food.

The series follows Kim as she meets up with dedicated artisan producers and chefs.

It considers how new trends in food production and an increasing interest in how we eat are influencing every aspect of the place where we live.

Kim said: “I am looking forward to getting out and meeting people from all over Northern Ireland with a real passion and pride in what they do, producing, cooking and serving the very best produce to the highest standards.

“I hope the series reflects the feel of spring and summer here in Northern Ireland.”
