Shane Osbourne, Altmore Gardens, Newry, was also fined £300 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

A public prosecutor said that on August 15 last year a police patrol saw a vehicle travel from Bridge Street in Banbridge to Church Square.

Osbourne claimed he was covered by an insurance policy on another vehicle and would produce at the police station later that day at 5pm.

Osbourne did not do that and when police spoke to him at 6pm he said he was unable to find the policy and would produce it at a later date.

On September 8 police tried to contact him on his phone but there was no answer. When he was told he was being reported for the offence he admitted he had no insurance for the vehicle.
