Drink driving on day of his ban

On the day he was due in court for a drink driving offence a Banbridge man was caught driving with excess alcohol in the early hours of the morning.

Gary Sean McElherron (25), Brookfield Meadows, Banbridge, appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Through a solicitor he admitted driving with excess alcohol on January 20 this year at Northway in Portadown.

The court heard that later that day he was banned from driving for 12 months for a similar offence.

Deputy District Judge Brian Archer adjourned sentencing until March 16 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.

He told the defendant that all options would be open to the court but warned McElherron he could face custody.
