Drink driver forced police car to brake

A 35-year-old woman was banned from driving for 12 months last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for an excess alcohol offence.

Sarah King, Old Fort Lodge, Craigavon, was also fined £150 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

If she completes a course for drink driving her ban would be reduced to nine months.

The court heard that her vehicle pulled out in front of a police vehicle on the Moyraverty West Road causing it to brake sharply.

When police spoke to the defendant they could smell alcohol on her breath. An evidential breath test gave a reading of 64.

Mr Gabriel Ingram, representing the defendant, said she had been drinking with her sister and went to collect her mother.
